Brilliant .... note Ginger Baker stayed in SAfrica for a while . Wonder if he ever met up with our own world class drummer Colin Pratley from the SA Band 'Freedoms Children' .... world class but not allowed to perform in UK / EU in the 70's due to sanctions against us at the time .... can it be possible today I doubt !! ..... for all you hard rockers out there jus listen to this band on youtube & you will be amazed !! FREEDOMS CHILDREN .... album GALACTIC VIBES .... it's world class definitely & solo by Colin Pratley especially!!

You can tell that the core of his musicianship was jazz. He riffed on the beat and the groove instead of just showing off his chops.

One interesting observation... Peter Criss, on the mid 90s KISS reunion tour, played strikingly similar phrases and patterns. A lot of people said he sought to sound like Krupa, but now I am left to wonder if he was a Ginger Baker fan. And no, I'm not comparing one's "greatness" to the other. Just a stylistic similarity.
